It bugs me when people don’t show custodians respect.  They clean up campus and pick up the mess that you left behind because you were too lazy to walk to the trashcan.  The least you can do is say thank you to them whenever you pass by them.  I know that they get paid for doing it, but you have no idea what it’s like to pick after a bunch of kids.  They worked so hard to develop a good career and somehow they end up becoming a janitor. You don’t know their background.  You don’t know how they even ended up as a custodian, but you can make them love their job if you show them your appreciation.  Say ‘thank you’ once in a while.  I’m sure you will make them smile. People just want to feel appreciated.
